Is it normal that I still don’t feel ready to come back to real life after our wedding and honeymoon?? It’s already been a couple weeks and I thought I’d be over it by now haha. Some things that are probably contributing to the slump is that O has been out for town for work since we got back and I’ve hardly spent time with my new husband, and I’m dying to see our wedding photos/video but have to stay patient for a while. Been struggling to get back on my rhythm, though still I’m happier than ever, really. Read More
Workspace Update: Mini Espresso Station
I’ve always wanted to set up some sort of coffee station in our home, but the issue remains: we don’t have space, either on our already cramped kitchen countertops or to create one elsewhere. It’s enough of a deterrent for making coffee at all, having to bring out all the tools every time we needed to boil water, grind beans, and brew them in a french press. Making coffee at home thus became a weekly habit at best for us, but now we’ve found a machine compact enough (and stylish enough, bonus points) to fit right into our home, and it makes espresso so good I prefer it every time over my regular cup of coffee. It’s the new Essenza Mini, and I’ve partnered with Nespresso to share more about how this machine has opened up the world of espresso for me, and I’ll say it upfront- it’s amazing. Read More
We’re Married! Post-Wedding Update
Everyone tells you not to worry about your wedding being perfect, to let go of the details, enjoy, and remember the point of it all. We went into our wedding weekend so excited and so grateful to have family and friends near that I don’t think anything could have brought us down. As bullet-proof as we already were for anything to go wrong, our wedding day still ended up being perfect, to the point where I’m having a hard time believing that it happened. Read More
DIY Modern Fall Wreath
It’s the best time of the year for many reasons, my favorite being that I love decorating for fall in a way that brings in more natural textures and foliage. A wreath is a beautifully simple way to do this, and I took a modern approach by adding in wood beads and doing something different from the traditional round shape. It’s essentially a reusable fresh floral wall hanging, and I’ve partnered with Bluair, maker of Swedish designed air purifiers, to share the easy tutorial on how you can make one, too. Read More
DIY Jade Pumpkins
You know those pretty powdery pastel-hued grayish jade heirloom pumpkins? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a real one in person and I’m guessing I would if I drove out to some pumpkin farm 100 miles away, but I’m not going to do that. Instead I painted craft pumpkins a similar chalky shade using a technique to create a more realistic finish for this month’s Michaels Makers challenge. 10/10 times I’d prefer to use real pumpkins, but the nice thing about using craft pumpkins is that you can save all that hard work and reuse them every fall. That means you’ll never have to go to that far away pumpkin farm that maybe doesn’t exist, nice! Here’s how. Read More
